General rules
- No selling your catch (fines up to KRW 2 million).
- No scuba gear such as air tanks. Allowed tools: cast nets, scoop nets, push nets, hand nets, single-line fishing, rakes, traps, sickles for fertilizer seaweed, tongs, hooks, hoes, shovels, your hands, and everyday tools under 1 m in each dimension.
- One of each type of gear per person; no motorized devices or fish-attracting lights (the source lists handheld flashlights separately).
- In village fishing grounds, conch, abalone, sea urchin, sea cucumber and seaweed belong to the fishing village — don't take them.
- In open fishing grounds, follow the open species list and the village's conditions (e.g. 1 kg).
- Stay out of restricted and harbor areas.
- At night and at high tide, watch out for getting cut off by the tide.
Based on a July 2024 article; whether it is still operating as of 2026 is unconfirmed. Coordinates are based on the Wimi Port reference point (Naver Map); the open area is east of that point. Unconfirmed whether this is the same place as the "Wimi Open Fishing Ground" on the Seogwipo-si blog.
